Teeth Whitening, Sanford, FL

Teeth naturally darken as we age. Over time, staining may be caused by exposure to coffee, tea, soda, tobacco, and certain foods. Discoloration can also occur because of certain childhood illnesses, medications, physical trauma, etc.

Teeth Whitening is a way to lighten teeth quickly and inexpensively, without bonding porcelain material to teeth, or removing any sound tooth structure. In this respect, it is one of the most conservative cosmetic procedures we have, and much safer than some of the abrasive toothpastes on the market. Teeth whitening is best for people with otherwise healthy teeth. We are cautious when it comes to teeth with enamel loss, lots of cosmetic bonding, or large amalgam restorations. Porcelain restorations and white fillings do not whiten with whitening agents.

The patented Opalescence Tooth Whitening System we use will remove discoloration's with a gentle sustained release action that will oxidize stains within your teeth. Your tooth structure remains unchanged. Dr. Horanic will examine your teeth and gums to ensure good oral health prior to treatment. Old fillings may need to be replaced and/or decayed areas treated and filled.

An impression of your teeth will be taken to guarantee proper fit of the custom fabricated whitening trays. The thin soft plastic trays provide sufficient comfort while whitening. Once the tray is made, Dr. Horanic will explain how to use the Opalescence whitening gel. Most patients use Opalescence while they sleep. Dr. Horanic will decide how many nights your treatment should take for maximum results. Most patients will need to whiten for eight to ten nights. In some cases, Dr. Horanic may recommend whitening during waking hours instead and possibly for shorter time periods.
